Task
Design a new typeface for MUJI's recycling sub-brand MUJI Found. Make the typeface harmonize with modern Japanese gothic typefaces by drawing inspiration from historic Japanese calligraphic strokes.

Specimens & prototypes

The typeface, Mendo — an abbreviation of mendokusai めんどくさい, meaning bothersome, after the amount of trouble it gave me and my guest teachers in its design phase — presented on a number of MUJI-relevant surfaces and products.
